A non-profit, Non-Governmental Organisation, Patriotic Professionals Ghana (PPP), has reached out to hundreds of residents in the Obom Domeabra constituency in the Greater Accra Region by training them in soap making while providing free medical screening for others.
The exercise, which took place on Saturday, November 12, 2016 forms part of the humanitarian group’s outreach programs in providing hands-on practical training for the unemployed as well as those who wants to learn a trade in selected communities across the country.
The exercise was fully financed by PPC and their donor partners.
The program was carried out following a request by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the area, Baba Darison.
Darison’s request, Kasapafmonline.com understands, was necessitated by a research carried out in the community some few months ago which identified the challenges most of the constituents were grappling with as far as employment opportunities are concerned.
In all 167 residents benefited from the soap making lessons, while 951 received free health screening and medication.
The Public Relations Officer for the PPG, Ibrahim Yussif Bangsua, interacting with journalists bemoaned the standard of living of the people despite its closeness to Accra.
Nonetheless, he said the group which boasts of lawyers, doctors, pharmacists, nurses, entrepreneurs, teachers among other professionals was committed to addressing the needs of communities.
Nana Yaa Afratima, instructor and member of the livelihood empowerment team, expressed hope that the largely unemployed youth would find a source of income after training them in making different types of soap.
PPG in collaboration with the NPP MP for Trobu, Moses Anim recently organised free medical screening for residents of Omanjor. The group was led by Pharm Mark Amankwa.
They have also constructed a bridge at Omanjor at the request of the residents.
